Purpose of the event: 

To provide a case study event that builds students’ professional skills and community engagement. 

This event focuses on technical and networking skills. Students will learn how to build a working application in teams, and will learn how to showcase their skills in the job hunting process. This is a free event for students and all final projects can be used to showcase the Full Stack program for future students.

 

Objectives:

  • Engage with other (current and former) students
  • Work and learn together
  • Showcase your skills
  • Learn about the tech job market from an expert

 

Event Schedule:

10:00 AM - 10:30 AM Welcome and opening statements
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM Groups setup and project presentation
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM Lunch break
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Guest speaker
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM  Work on project
3:30 PM  - 4:00 PM Closing and final remarks

Part 1: Recruiter Q&A

A tech recruiter will discuss topics focused towards networking and branding yourself throughout the job hunt as a new developer.

 

Part 2: Hackathon

Students will be divided in groups of 4-6 to come up with an idea and build an application.

No worries if you're unable to come up with something! One of our mentors Jen, has always wanted her own cat cafe and Rose has already gotten a design started! :)
